What you see - The huge WTF signage beckons you from the busy Versova street in Andheri, Mumbai. An attentive valet takes charge of your car, and as soon as you enter you notice the various connotations of WTF splashed in a haphazard manner on the side wall. These include, ‘Women are too fussy’, ‘World Through Facebook’ to the naughty ‘Wits, Tits and Fun’. Garden benches and twinkling lights add character to the spacious courtyard. The bar has a display of various liquors and movie posters adorn the walls of the indoor air-conditioned area with a few tables. WTF plays country, rock and popular music.
What you get - WTF serves a good selection of cocktails, breezy mocktails, beers, beverages like iced tea, soft drinks and good selection of wines by the bottle or glass. We started with Sula Cabernet Shiraz, a medium bodied red wine which set our mood for the rest of the evening. Next we tried, Mandarin Mojito, an interesting sweet and sour twist to the regular version with chunky orange slices. We found it nicely made and served stylishly.
The food menu lists mainly starters like Bombay vada pav, Crostini, Jalapeno Cheese balls and more. We sampled Chettinad chicken wings and between mouthfuls, we asked the server if the owner was from the land of Kerala. The answer came in the affirmative, lifting our spirits! We also tried the interestingly titled ‘Mean ass chicken chili’ which had succulent chicken pieces tossed with green peppers. It was spicy and juicy. Kheema Pav had spicy minced mutton served with bread. The well blended flavors went very well with the pleasing weather.
Our verdict - WTF serves no main course but a good selection of starters. Enjoy a romantic date in the courtyard before heading out for dinner or sit and enjoy drinks with interesting side dishes. The prices are very affordable, so go on and treat your friends for that long pending treat. WTF is present at Khar and Versova. The service is attentive with servers are ever present with witty anecdotes. Valet parking facility is available.
