What you see – We see a small music store, amidst a crowded lane, with the signage of the brand Planet M at Chembur in Mumbai. The brand is huge in the business of music and movies, offering an ocean of choices for avid music lovers. The store is situated in a residential area.

What you get – Planet M at Chembur is small, as compared to the other branches in the city. So the store is piled up with DVDs, CDs and other music equipment. It houses different movies and music CDs and movie DVDs in English, Hindi and Marathi and other regional languages like Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Telugu and Kannada. Popular Hindi song albums even from films dating 10 years back are available (which is a positive aspect of this store).

Planet M also has a separate section for mobile phones like Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson, MP3 players and electronic accessories like Nokia chargers, Motorola headsets, microphones for voice chats as well as other basic necessities like plugs for your music system. The shop also has a small stock of key chains, wristbands etc.

Our verdict – MetroMela thinks this branch of Planet M could do with more space. The shop is small with hardly any room to walk (even a bunch of five people would be a crowd). The music collection is therefore limited and good for a quick popular buy.  Don’t expect to browse peacefully among stacks of music though for a rare find. The redeeming factor here probably is the add-ons for mobile phones and computers. No parking space is available.
